Trip to the Vet

After a particularly fierce battle, General "Stonewall" Jackson was asked by a subordinate how he could remain so calm in the presence of so much danger. He replied, "Captain, my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me." He added, after a pause, looking the soldier full in the face: "That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave."

Milk Bones

I don't want to be a Johnny Come Lately because a lot of people are posting this one, but this is a great British comedy on education. They really hit it. Enjoy!

Carpet Stains

We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes.

Milk Bones

Dachshunds are ideal dogs for small children, as they are already stretched and pulled to such a length that child could not do much harm one way or another.

Raw Hide

It has been 3 weeks since I have put anything on my blog. Pure laziness, I assure you. I have been very busy and if any of you readers know me, you are probably wondering why I have a blog in the first place. I will admit that the reasons are somewhat narcissistic - I do like to be heard. But if you will notice, I rarely put my own thoughts on this blog. I usually borrow from those who are brighter than myself. I know my limitations (at least I think I do). Well anyway, I spent a lovely night at a posh hotel with my wife and had a great time. Look forward to more of those. We just got another dog - that makes 3 now. Her name is Lucy but we are going to change it to Daisy. Our dog hoard consists of Belle, Daisy and Tucker. Now that we have three, I think Belle is moving into the dominant position. Tucker is too stupid to be top dog. Belle is the mother superior. She is the nurse, peacekeeper, and hall monitor. She works hard to keep the other two in line. Amusing to watch. Well, I must go so I'll leave you with some thoughts for the day.

Romans 1:20 says, "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse. (NKJV)

The word "excuse" stems from the Greek word apologia which means "to defend". What this means for Christians is that the unbelieving world has no apologetic. They cannot stand in the day of judgment because the only ones who have a defense are the Christians. So when we are defending the faith, we not only have the upper hand, we have the only hand. Good news on the Apologetic front.

Trip to the Vet

“For there is no one so great or mighty that he can avoid the misery that will rise up against him when he resists and strives against God”

“I consider looseness with words no less of a defect than looseness of the bowels”

John Calvin

(I loved this second one. Great analogy!)
